World Cooking-Mexican Cuisine

天神 Tenjin

Spicy smell, colorful veggies and very nice people got together at SUiTO FUKUOKA for the first cooking lesson on October 14th. This time we cooked salsa Mexicana, chili con carne for taco and avocado soup! (Plus taco on rice as an arranged recipe.)
The cooking tutor Kazu Hisamatsu a.k.a Belle learned this special recipe from a professional Mexican dancer living in Fukuoka. Belle is a inter-culture expert who has learned lots of recipes from non-Japanese people from over 40 countries.
First we chopped vegetables and beef, mixed some vegetables with seasonings for salsa. Chopped beef has better texture than using minced beef, Belle said. Then we put chopped beef, kidney beans and tomato in a pan, simmered for a while. Garlicky nice smell was spread in the kitchen! For avocado soup, we used chicken breast.
The participants put the meals on a plate beautifully by themselves! They worked together and made wonderful colorful dish!!
"Mexican flag has red, white and green as the main colors which represent paprika, onion and green pepper,"
Belle said. Mexican colors have some kind of power to cheer people up, making people happy, that's what I thought because today's participants looked quite happy having a good luck.
Thank you very much for joining to World Cooking lesson! We look forward to seeing you again!
