Hello! My name is Kaleo Chan and and I am a 3rd year student from The University of Washington (America). Ethnically, I am half Chinese and half Japanese, but my family has been in America for 4 generations now, so I am rather distant with my Japanese roots. I came to Japan last September, hoping to be able to contribute to Japanese-America international relations while also taking time to study Japanese language and culture. I am currently studying in Kyushu University’s Japan in Today’s World program and also taking part in and leading numerous international cultural exchange events. Through these events, I’ve come to learn that there are not only many foreign people with a deep-rooted interest in Japanese culture, but also many Japanese people who are eager to interact with foreigners.

Coming to Fukuoka, I quickly fell in love with this place full of rich diversity. Now, as an intern at SUiTO FUKUOKA, I will do my best to help create an environment where people can come together and truly enjoy cultural exchange, making new friends, and feel the same love towards this wonderful place as I do.
