Recommended Fukuoka Sightseeing Spots by our Intern

Hello! My name is Philipp and I am the new intern at SUiTO Fukuoka.

In my first week in Fukuoka I went sightseeing and want to recommend you some great places you can visit when you do a trip to Fukuoka.

Ohori Park:

The Ohori Park is located in the center of Fukuoka and is one of the most beautiful parks in Fukuoka. It doesn´t matter in which season you will come to Fukuoka, the Ohori Park is always worth a visit. You can use the trail to walk around the park or use bridges to reach some islands in the middle of the park. With its beautiful landscape it is a great place to relax after an exhausting day of shopping or sightseeing in Fukuoka.

Marine World:

This place is located outside the Fukuoka City Center, so to get there you can either take the ferry or the train. By train you take the JR Kagoshima Main Line from Hakata Station to JR Kashii Station and then get on the JR Kashii Line to JR Uminonakamichi Station. From the Uminonakamichi Station Marine World is just a few minutes’ walk away. In 10 different sections you can experience the versatile marine life of Kyushu. One of the best things at Marine World are the numerous shows that take place throughout the day. In addition to various animal feedings and a diving show, the biggest highlight is a dolphin and sea lion show.

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park:

Right next to the Uminonakamichi Station you can find the entrance to the Uminonakamichi Seaside Park. Since the park is very large it is the best to rent a bike to explore it. In addition to beautiful flower gardens and some playgrounds you can also spend time in the animal forest. In the animal forest you can not only enjoy watching animals like Capybaras, Sheep or Rabbits, you sometimes also get the chance to touch or feed them. Furthermore, you can enjoy the view of the beach and the sea from the Shiomidai Observation Deck.

Fukuoka Municipal Zoo and Botanical Garden:

Located a bit south from the city center you can find the Fukuoka Municipal Zoo and Botanical Garden. In the zoo you can see animals like red pandas, penguins, giraffes or tigers. Furthermore, there is a special section with a children’s zoo and an amusement park, which makes it a great place to visit with your kids. The botanical garden is a nice place to watch the blooming flowers or enjoy tropical plants in the green house. Thanks to its combination of a zoo and a botanical garden it is a fantastic place for a trip with the whole family.

Momochi Seaside Park:

Not far from the Fukuoka Yafuoku Dome and the Fukuoka Tower you can find the Momochi Seaside Park. With its beautiful landscape the beach is a great place to walk along, do some sports or just relax at. The surrounding area is also great to go shopping or relax at a restaurant or café. At the 123-Meter-high observation deck of the Fukuoka Tower you can get a great view of the beach and Fukuoka City. While you have the most beautiful view of the beach around sunset you can have a great time there all around the day.
