<Hakata, the birth place of Udon>

天神 Tenjin

It has been said for a long time that Hakata is the birthplace of Udon noodles. Ramen are indeed famous here, but we definitely wish that people coming to visit Fukuoka would also try Udon noodles! This is why we decided to introduce 7 shops carefully chosen among the multitude of Udon restaurants in Fukuoka.

①An Udon restaurant not quite like the others

The two things characteristic of Hakata Udon are the soft noodles and the taste of the soup stock.
If you ask for a taste of the original Hakata Udon, many locals will undoubtedly recommend you this restaurant.
This shop is also listed in the Michelin guide since 2014. Why not start your Udon quest with this restaurant? It’s only a 10 minutes-walk from Hakata station.

The fried burdock pictured will catch your eye, but what made the real reputation of this shop is their noodles.「Just stretched」「Just cut」「Just boiled」are their credo and they try to offer the freshest noodles possible to every customer. To be able to do this though, they require a little bit more time to make the Udon than other places, but their bowls are definitely worth the wait.
